New Lessons Learned.

Well after the hassels of McCayla getting her tonsils and adenoids removed last Thursday and after the heartache that was pretty much kicking and screaming for her to take her medicine. We have learned the hard way. Actually trust her if she doesn't like it there could be good reason behind it. A 4:30am wake up cry to me on Friday night / Saturday morning to her saying that she was itchy all over and it was making her pretty crazy. Me being half asleep I wasn't to sure on what to say or do. Luckily Bryan had woken up as well and he suggested that I take her into the bathroom and check her out. To our surprise she had red bumps all over her body (from head to toe). We were hoping that it was just an alergic reaction to something but we couldn't figure it out. We thought maybe it was the futon (My sister and her kids came to visit this weekend; so of course McCayla gave up her room to her and the youngest) so after a cool bath to wash and residue off of her we let her sleep in our bed for the remaining hours of sleep. Then in the morning she wasn't complaining of the itchyness (not sure it that's a word but I'm using it anyway) as much, but she was getting more and more red all over. We had made a Vet appointment for the boys so we let Mccayla stay home with Michelled, Cameron and Garrett. After the vet we came home and she had gotten even worse. So we took her to the local Emergency Care Center and spoke with a doctor about it. Come to find out the medicine that has been such a problem for her to take she is allergic to. The amoxicillin (part of the penicillin family) and the Tylenol with Codeine had given her hives. Luckily her body has recovered from her surgery and she doesn't need those anymore. She now has to remember that she will never be able to take those two drugs again. We could take her to an allergy specialist and find out which of the two that she is truely allergic to but why bother it is just much safer to keep both of them out of her system.
